Delegation - Choosing the Right Person to Delegate To

The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are currently watching the Delegation series from EntreLeadership. Follow along each week as we learn from leaders at EntreLeadership on how to master the art of delegation without guilt, stress or fear of losing control.

Now that you have made the list of things you want to delegate, you can go through the next exercise on deciding who to delegate to. Complete the exercise below to determine who the right person to delegate to is.

Exercise:

  1. List out your team members or leaders and their roles.

  2. Fill in each person’s skill set of what they are really good at.

  3. How do you think this person could grow?

  4. Now match the task you want to delegate to the team member who would be a great fit for the task.

Now that you have determined who would be a good fit for some of your offloaded tasks it’s time to determine their bandwidth. Do they have the availability to take this task on? Once you have found the person or people to delegate tasks to, schedule a meeting with them to get the ball rolling.

Stay tuned for next week’s lesson as Pedro LaTorre teaches us about other ways you can delegate if you don’t have someone available on your team.
