The Fulling team is watching Global Leadership Networks video on The Upside of Simplicity by Juliet Funt.

“Juliet Funt explores how overcoming unproductive busyness in your work life begins with creating a culture of simplicity. Dive into developing habits that reduce overload, maximize efficiency, streamline communication, and activate untapped leadership potential within your organization.”

(Beginning - 13:08)

Juliet Funt talked about how to pull us out of casualness and into action.  She mentioned the 50/50 Rule in that anything that bothers you at work is your fault until you ask for a change.

  • We talked about how a positive leader can change the way people around them respond.

  • There is power in saying No.

  • It takes discipline and prior planning to ensure you stick to your priorities within the home or wherever you are.  For example, when raising children busyness can easily dominate your lives with all of the activities they can and want to be involved in.  We talked about setting boundaries within our homes to create space for family dinners, etc.

Food for Thought

  1. How has a casual attitude created more busyness in your life?

  2. How would more simplicity help you at work and home?

  3. In what ways has social conformity impacted your work?
