Healthy Habits – Treat the Needs of Others as Sacred

The Fulling team is watching Healthy Habits by Marcus “Goodie” Goodloe.

“We all want to see our dreams become a reality, but many of us don’t realize how our everyday habits are the key to either making progress or becoming stuck in a rut. So what can we do to identify and establish good habits while ridding ourselves of patterns that keep us from relationally, spiritually, and emotionally thriving? Join bestselling author Marcus ”Goodie“ Goodloe in this six-session series as he guides us through the six steps to achieving life-changing practices.”

Goodie talked in this session about how seeing people as sacred is to view them as holy. It is to see everyone with inherent value rather than defining them by their relative status.

A powerful way to treat others as sacred is by being present with others. Presence is just being interested in whomever you are with.

An easy way to treat others as sacred is to let them know that we value them and prioritize our relationship with them above work-related issues. Goodie talked about how much of a difference it makes when we shift from being problem-focused to being people focused.

Our organization, rules, regulations, and even the executives of an organization cannot become more important than the people they’re trying to serve. For any organization to thrive, the people in that organization must thrive. The people in your workplace are sacred and your success is tied to their well-being.

Food for Thought

  1. Describe a time that made you feel valued by someone else—how were they present with you?

  2. What could it look like for you to be more intentional in knowing and caring for your coworkers and clients?

  3. How might you refocus on the well-being of the people you work nearest to? What is something you can do this week to show each of them you care?
