Don’t skip your Christmas party just because you have a virtual team

Happy Holidays from the Fulling Reindeers, Elves, and Santas!

It’s almost Christmas and it’s time for team parties. But having a virtual team doesn’t mean you have to miss out. And the best part is, no one has to fight traffic or getting a sitter for your party (though those things can be fun, too).

Our team recently had our company Christmas party via Zoom and it was a blast! Need some ideas for taking your company Christmas party virtual? Here are a few tested ideas that have been a blast:

🔸Have a holiday scavenger hunt - split into teams and they each have a list of random (holiday themed) items to find around their house. Set a time limit and send everyone running to find things. It’s a hoot to see what people come up with!

▪️Add some friendly competition. Split people into teams in advance and assign them a theme - red/green/gold, Santa/reindeer/elves, candy canes/gift wrap/bows. They need to come decorated in their screen as much as possible.
You can then play virtual Pictionary or charades to keep adding to your team points. Winner gets a gift card.

▫️Send out treats in advance. This could be a Starbucks card so they can grab their fave that day. One time we sent out cookie decorating kits from a local coffee shop and our team decorated together.

Being a virtual team doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the festivities and creativity! We just pulled off a successful virtual Christmas party… here is the story and photos to prove it.

We split into three teams, the Reindeer, the Elves, and the Santa's. Each team was encouraged to go all out in their themes and were judged on who was most festive for a shot at the gift card prize at the end! Elves took victory in the themed part of the event!

Our ice breaker was a rather interesting game of Would You Rather - Christmas Edition. Some of us had a hard time choosing between:

“Would you rather have Scrooge as your boss or Clark Griswold as your dad?”

“Would you rather eat all the chocolate out of an advent calendar in one night or drink an entire cup of hot cider without stopping?”

And “Would you rather get only a stocking for Christmas or only one present?”

We then played a game of Christmas Charades, in which the Reindeer pulled out the win. Who knew it would be so hard to act out stringing popcorn around the Christmas tree and Santa Baby?

Just look at the relief on Jeff’s face when his team finally guessed the right words.

Next, we broke out into our three teams and wrote a short story based on prompts that were given to us. The prompts included, Santa in the year 3000, Elves having to adapt to digital technology toys, and Reindeers loosing their ability to fly right before Christmas Eve. It was fun reading what each team came up with … okay, maybe there was some AI involved..

Between the game of Christmas Charades and Sherry’s reading voice, the Reindeer were named victorious for this years Christmas gift cards.

We then watched a video from Thistle Farms, an organization Fulling Management was able to give to this year. It is always a blessing to hear from the organization’s we are involved with and seeing how they are growing and thriving.

This year’s Christmas party was a hit yet again, and it was fun to have some healthy competition, lots of laughing together, and learning more about each other. We are looking forward to what 2024 brings!

Merry Christmas!
