Bringing People Together in a World That Divides
In a recent Fulling team meeting, we watched "Bringing People Together in a World That Divides" by John C. Maxwell, where he shared powerful insights on living a life of purpose and legacy. Here’s a snapshot of what we learned and discussed:
“What you leave in someone’s life is more important than what you leave for their life.” – John C. Maxwell
Three Pillars of Legacy:
Destiny to Fulfill (Compass)
Scripture: Psalm 139:16
Ask: Where am I going that will make my life matter?
Contribution to Make (Clock)
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:7
Ask: What am I doing now that will make my life matter?
Legacy to Leave (Companions)
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:2
Ask: Who am I developing to carry the legacy forward?
Breakout Group Highlights:
Legacy examples: Faithful marriages, being a light to others, living others-focused lives.
"Down the row" thinking: Consider the long-term impact, like sowing seeds with the harvest in mind.
Purpose discovery:
What energizes you?
What are your God-given strengths and abilities?
Living out legacy today:
Be salt (adds value) and light (brings clarity and hope) – Matthew 5:13-16.
Passions & strengths shared:
Helping others, creating order, supporting teams, building from scratch.
Value of community:
People shared stories of being mentored, supported, and brought along by others.
Living Intentionally:
Be aware of where your energy is going each week – is it aligned with what matters most?
Pass on values like kindness, integrity, unconditional love, and others-first living.
Recognize your gifts come from God – use them to uplift others.
Be intentional in relationships; small influences can create lasting impact.
Reflection Questions:
What does a life that matters mean to you?
Are your current influences guiding you toward your true purpose?
What course corrections might be needed?
How does developing others expand your legacy?
What energizes you—and how can that shape your future?
Where do your strengths and experiences align with the world’s needs?
Are you investing your time in things that leave a lasting impact?
Final Thought:
Legacy isn’t just what you leave behind—it’s how you live today. Be salt. Be light. Be intentional.
